Read the passage carefully.

The development of trade networks on the Mediterranean Sea had benefits and drawbacks. The benefits were that people could sell their surplus goods and become wealthy. For example, Greece did not have much farmland, but ancient Egyptians grew a lot of grain. The Egyptians sold their extra grain to the Greeks. In turn, the Egyptians could obtain goods they needed. For example, Egyptians needed timber to build boats. Egyptians could obtain timber from Greece.

The rise in trade raised some problems. Early trade depended on bartering. Bartering is the exchange of goods for other goods. For example, Egyptians could barter grain with Greeks in return for wood. But what if the Greeks did not need Egyptian grain at that time, but wanted Phoenician glass? The Egyptians would first have to trade the grain for the glass. Then, they could trade the glass for the wood. Bartering can become complicated very quickly!

This problem led to the creation of monetary exchange. Monetary exchange is the use of currency to trade, or buy, goods. Currency is a standard item used to represent a value. A common example is a coin or paper money. People could now use currency to buy what they needed.

How did the development of monetary exchange improve on the old barter system of trade?

Monetary exchange made trade less complicated.
Bartering led to the development of trade networks.
Monetary exchange let people trade goods for other goods.
Bartering allowed people to trade with others who had similar goods.

A circuit has a current of 2.4 A. The voltage is increased to 4 times its original value, while the resistance stays the same.

How should the resistance change to return the current to its original value if the voltage remains at its increased amount?

It should decrease to one-half of its value.
It should decrease to one-fourth of its value.
It should increase to two times its value.
It should increase to four times its value.

Answers

Answer:

D. It should increase to four times its value.

Explanation:

To keep the original value of current the same, the resistance should increase to four times its value.

What is Ohm's law ?

Ohm's law states that, the voltage applied across a current carrying conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing through the circuit.

Here,

Current through the circuit, I = 2.4 A

According to Ohm's law,

V [tex]\alpha[/tex] I

V = IR

where V is the voltage and R is the resistance of the circuit.

The voltage is increased to 4 times its original value.

So, V' = 4V

In order to keep the initial value of current the same, the resistance should be changed to R'.

So, Initial current = final current

V/R = V'/R'

V/R = 4V/R'

R'/R =4

Therefore, R' = 4R

Hence,

To keep the original value of current the same, the resistance should increase to four times its value.

There are so many questions which one you don't know

Answer:

Explanation:

Step 1: We make the assumption that 160 is 100% since it is our output value.

Step 2: We next represent the value we seek with x.

Step 3: From step 1, it follows that 100%=160

Step 4: In the same vein, = x%=140.

Step 5: This gives us a pair of simple equations:

100%=160(1).

x%=140(2).

Step 6: By simply dividing equation 1 by equation 2 and taking note of the fact that both the LHS

(left hand side) of both equations have the same unit (%); we have

100% / x% = 160 / 140

Step 7: Taking the inverse (or reciprocal) of both sides yields

x% / 100% = 140 / 160

x% = 87.5%

therefore, 140 is 87.5% of 160
